Nepal is located in South Asia and is ranked 137 out of 185 countries in the world based on the UN’s Human Development Index.1 Almost 10 million people or 33% of the population live in severe multidimensional poverty.
Serving the Unreached
In Nepal, 1.3 million rural people (5.6% of the rural population) lack access to a safe and improved water source, and 23% of the rural population lack access to adequate sanitation facilities.2
The dominant religion is Hinduism with over 81% of the population identifying as Hindu. There are 269 people groups in Nepal, and 258 remain unreached with the gospel.
Christianity is growing yet still in the minority at 1.3%, and Christians often face significant persecution for their faith.3 Our implementing partners mobilize and invite local pastors and churches to participate in WASH programs in villages where there is often no Christian presence.
Our Work
Since 2016, we've been helping communities in rural Nepal gain access to safe water and give a platform for local indigenous Christ followers to show God’s love through the provision of clean water. We are focused on improving health in Nepal through a variety of water projects. Water programs include connecting households and villages to a protected spring water source, household water filtration programs, and school WASH programs that aim to address safe water supply, handwashing, and improved sanitation for students and educators.
