neverthirst exists to bring clean and living water to the unreached.
We work in remote, hard-to-reach places, coming alongside local partners to bring clean and living water to marginalized communities throughout Africa and Asia.
Beginning in and through the local church
“Have you disconnected the blessings of God from the purpose of God?” The founders of neverthirst were forever changed by a simple question.
It was 2006 when David Platt posed this question in a sermon titled The Ultimate Disconnect, based on Psalm 67:1-2. Platt was the lead pastor at the Church of Brook Hills, in Birmingham, Alabama, and our three founders were sitting in the congregation, and inspired to take action.
What followed was a full year spent prayerfully seeking God’s direction. After traveling overseas on multiple mission trips, witnessing poverty unlike they had ever seen before, our founders returned feeling called to do more.
“May God be gracious to us, bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, so your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.”
The Village of Witto,
In April 2008, we found ourselves in the small South Sudanese village of Witto, praying over children at a Samaritan’s Purse field hospital. Many were desperately sick and suffering from waterborne disease.
Asking to see the community’s water source, we were led down a narrow path that eventually ended at a small, shrinking pool of water.
“This is where the people get their water.”
We were in shock and disbelief, yet overcome with compassion.
It was there that God made His calling clear. By December of that year, we raised enough money to return to Witto and install a well. neverthirst was born.
Serving the Unreached
Today, neverthirst is based out of Birmingham, Alabama, and we serve in eight countries across Africa and southeast Asia providing clean drinking, sanitation, and hygiene solutions through the local church.
From a question in a sermon, to a year of prayer, to seeing the need firsthand, neverthirst is on mission to serve the unreached with clean and living water — making “[His] ways known on earth, [His] salvation among all nations.”
To date, neverthirst has served over 1,300,000 people with clean and living water.
