Field Story: Pastor Godana
In a remote village in sub-Saharan Africa, a local pastor named Gadana has watched something take off. 2 years ago the area had only a handful of churches. Today there are around 13, each with its own pastor and leaders.
In this short film, Matt sits down with Pastor Gadana to hear what happened. Worth a few minutes of your time.
The partnership started with water. The projects gave Pastor Gadana 2 things, as he describes them: a way to serve people with clean water, and a way to share the gospel. Clean water opens the door. Relationships follow. Then he can preach Christ.
It isn't easy ground. People there grow up tied to deep traditions, and those beliefs settle into the heart early, which makes turning to Christ hard. Trust is the other hurdle. The community watches how Pastor Gadana lives before they weigh a word he says. They're looking for love in action.
So he meets that head on. When he arrives somewhere new, he introduces himself as the man bringing clean water. Because these villages have lived through a serious water crisis, people are ready to listen. Once the water flows, he says, their hearts and ears open to the message. Many who had never believed have come to faith.
The fruit speaks for itself. From a small number of churches 2 years ago to around 13 today, each with its own pastor and leaders, part of what he calls a rapid spiritual revival. His ask is simple: more projects, so more people can be reached.
"On behalf of our community, I thank the neverthirst family in the name of God," he says. "I pray for you, and we love you very much."
That's the return on a gift to neverthirst. Clean water meets the body's most urgent physical need, and through local pastors like Gadana, the gospel meets the deeper one. Churches get planted. People respond.
