God's Victory for God's Glory

September 21, 2026 · 28 min

Spencer reads Psalm 27:1–3, where David says the Lord is his light and his salvation, and connects it to what John says about Jesus in John 1:4–5. Then he goes to 2 Kings 18 and 19 to watch a king live it out. Hezekiah took Judah's throne at 25, tore out the high places, and smashed the bronze serpent Moses made once the people started burning incense to it. Then he refused to serve the king of Assyria. Sennacherib's messenger showed up at the wall and asked him the question the episode turns...

The Battle Starts the Moment You Decide to Pray

September 7, 2026 · 26 min

A year ago Spencer and a few close friends started meeting at 7 a.m. every Monday in the neverthirst office to pray. Something changed, and none of them can imagine stopping now. In this episode he opens the Psalms to ask what happens when God's people call on Him, then puts a harder question on the table: if men building rockets feel urgency every single day, why don't we feel it about the things of God? Drawing on 19th-century writer Philip Bennett Power and his book The "I Wills" of the Ps...

The Hand That Holds the Mountains

August 24, 2026 · 25 min

Spencer just got back from a week in Glacier National Park with his son Grant, where the best language two grown men could find for twelve miles of the Highline Trail was insane, amazing, beautiful. Right instinct, wrong size. So he turns to Psalm 95, where James Montgomery Boice finds two reasons to worship, in order. First, God is a great God: verses 4 and 5 inventory the depths, the heights, the sea, the dry land, with nothing left over. Second, He is our own dear Shepherd — the hands that...

Useful and Joyful

August 10, 2026 · 29 min

Picking up where the last episode left off. God told Moses, "I will be with you." That's it. That was the whole answer to "who am I?" Spencer walks a chain of that same promise through Genesis, Joshua, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and into the New Testament. Then he asks the question he'd been journaling about that morning: can we lose God's presence? Saul lost it. David begged God not to take it. So where does that leave us on this side of the cross? The answer he lands on is union and communion. We'...

All Authority, All Nations, All He Commanded, All the Days

July 27, 2026 · 31 min

Spencer walks through the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) and the one command at its center: make disciples. Drawing on Herb Hodges and the four "alls" Jesus gives, he ties it to neverthirst's work reaching unreached communities with clean water and the gospel. The episode closes praying for the Terai Brahmin of Nepal, 114,000 people with no known believers. =================================== Connect with Spencer and the neverthirst team: neverthirstwater.org Host: Spencer Sutton To Lea...

What Are They for So Many?

July 13, 2026 · 24 min

Spencer reads the feeding of the 5,000 from John 6:4-15 and sits with three questions. What does this show us about God? What about the boy who handed over his lunch? And how should any of it change us in 2026? The answer to the first one stacks up fast. God sees people in their need. He has compassion. He loves to dwell with the lowly. He holds the power, and He's the one who provides. Jesus feeds more than 10,000 people from five loaves and two fish, then calls himself the bread of life. ...

We Live if You Are Standing Fast

June 29, 2026 · 25 min

Spencer walks through 1 Thessalonians 3:6–13, reading it alongside D.A. Carson's book on Paul's prayers. The thread: Paul, under persecution and forced to flee Thessalonica, isn't distressed about his own affliction — he's distressed until Timothy brings word that the young church's faith is holding. Paul's joy and very life are bound up in their spiritual well-being, not their size, popularity, or programs. From there Spencer draws the application: a life of significance is a life poured ou...

Jason Berry on the front lines in sub-Saharan Africa

June 15, 2026 · 30 min

Jason just got back from a country in sub-Saharan Africa, where he camped in villages for nearly a week with no electricity and 110-degree heat. He went to document the work for the 99% of supporters who'll never see it firsthand. He rode a donkey to the contaminated source one mother had used for about 20 years, then filmed her at her new tap stand. The reclaimed time let her be with her 8 kids and start a small business. Jason and Spencer also talk about why neverthirst now lists regions ...

Monuments That Last: Building Legacies That Matter

June 1, 2026 · 23 min

In this episode, Spencer reflects on two recent trips. First, Washington, D.C. for National Police Week to honor his brother-in-law Mark. Then California with colleague Brandon Gossett to visit faithful neverthirst donors. Walking among the monuments and memorials in D.C. got him thinking about how people throughout history have built structures to be remembered, from the Lincoln Memorial to the Taj Mahal to the Great Pyramids to Cambodia's Killing Fields memorial. He brings that thread to th...

Don't Waste Your Life

May 11, 2026 · 28 min

Spencer revisits Don't Waste Your Life by John Piper, a book he first read during the 2007–2008 financial crisis that went on to shape the founding of neverthirst. He shares three principles from the book that still drive the ministry today: be mastered by one great thing, risk is right, and live to prove that Christ is more precious than life. Along the way, he gets personal about the tension between wanting a life that counts and wanting comfort, and he closes by praying for the Tugali peop...

Do You Want to Get Well?

April 27, 2026 · 19 min

In this episode, we walk through John 5:1–9, the story of Jesus healing the invalid at the pool of Bethesda. We explore why Jesus asked “Do you want to be healed?” and what it reveals about our tendency to grow comfortable in brokenness rather than face the cost of change. We also see similarities through neverthirst’s field work, where communities without clean water are asked if they’re willing to sacrifice for transformation. The episode closes with a spotlight on the Mubi people of Chad a...

Faithfulness on the Front Lines: Praying for the Church Where Christ Is Not Yet Known

April 13, 2026 · 26 min

Spencer dives into Paul's prayer in Colossians 1:9–14. Drawing from a recent trip to Southeast Asia and conversations with neverthirst's programs team, Spencer reflects on what it means to pray for the global church...especially believers serving faithfully in remote, hard-to-reach areas where Christ is not yet known. He challenges listeners to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and bear fruit for His glory. The episode closes with prayer for neverthirst's church partners and for the Kanembu...

The Thirst Beneath the Thirst

March 30, 2026 · 21 min

Spencer opens this episode with a vivid memory from a 2010 field visit: trekking through elephant grass ten feet high, following two children to the muddy stream they relied on for water every day. That image becomes the lens for a central conviction: there is always a thirst beneath the thirst. Drawing from John 4 and the story of the woman at the well, Spencer walks through seven core desires that God places in every human heart, and why only Christ can fully satisfy them. He also explores ...

Do Not Grow Weary in Doing Good

March 2, 2026 · 19 min

In this episode, co-founder and CMO Spencer Sutton reflects on the biblical call to perseverance and the quiet temptation to grow weary while doing good. As John Piper reminds us, “The greatest threat to our faithfulness is not opposition from the outside, but weariness on the inside.” Through the lens of the work at neverthirst, Spencer shares stories of how partners continue forward amid questions and fatigue—and also explores the fruit that comes when we refuse to grow weary, remaining fa...

Beyond Your Strength. The Point Where God Becomes Your Only Hope

February 2, 2026 · 15 min

In the Christian life, we face trials and burdens. In this episode of For the Kingdom, we look at Paul’s suffering that was beyond his strength. So severe he felt the “sentence of death.” God’s purpose was not to crush him, but to teach him to stop relying on himself and to depend on the God who raises the dead. We trace God’s past, present, and future deliverance. We also explore why shared prayer matters when suffering comes. =================================== Connect with Spencer and the ...

Poor in the World, But Rich in Faith

December 8, 2025 · 11 min

God’s economy contradicts human status systems. Wealth, power, beauty, office, and influence carry no weight before Him. The poor in the world are “rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom.” The episode dissects this reversal and applies it to Christian life, global missions, and the unreached. Primary Texts: James 2.5Proverbs 8.32–34Mark 7.14Luke 6.20–23The biblical command is to listen. Stop. Attend. Refuse favoritism. Evaluate people by spiritual condition rather than external status. The po...

October 14, 2025 · 17 min

In this very first episode of For the Kingdom, we share the heart behind this new podcast — and the story of how neverthirst began. What started in 2006 with a sermon from Psalm 67 and a question — “Have you disconnected God’s blessing from His purpose?” — has become a global movement to bring clean water and the gospel of Jesus Christ to some of the hardest-to-reach places on earth. In this episode, co-founder Spencer Sutton walks listeners through the origins of neverthirst, the powerful wa...
