Ethiopia is located in the east of the African continent and ranked 138 out of 185 countries in the world based on the UN’s Human Development Index.1 Alarmingly, over 83% of the population in Ethiopia live in severe multidimensional poverty.1
Serving the Unreached
Over 32 million people (38% of the rural population) lack access to a safe and improved water source, and over 76 million (91% of the rural population) lack access to adequate sanitation facilities.2 While Christianity is the largest religion at 59% of the population, there are still over 31 million people, representing 34 people groups, that are unreached by the gospel.3
neverthirst began working in Ethiopia in 2020 to help people gain access to safe water and give a platform for the local Church to show God’s love through the provision of clean and living water.
In the unreached regions where we work, our implementing partners are the only organizations addressing the need for clean water, sanitation and hygiene. Your giving can improve health in Ethiopia through hand pumps, giving families access to clean water, reducing collection time, and decreasing waterborne illness.
The Christian Church in these underserved regions is in the extreme minority and persecution against believers is very common. Our implementing partners mobilize and invite local pastors and churches to participate in water programs in villages where there is often no Christian presence.
